Welcome to the War on Waste section of Bertain.com. The War on Waste is a way of focusing a business very quickly on fixing big problems in a company. There is always waste in any company. It turns out that some companies are more wasteful than others. The War on Waste begins by looking at waste (any process or action that doesn't add value) and then figuring out how to eliminate it. The methodology used is a six step process: identify a waste, size it on an annual basis so that it is at least $100,000 (how much waste does this problem create over a year), propose a solution that doesn't cost over $5,000 (20 to 1 ROI), consider a secondary solution that spends more money but delivers even greater return, propose an implementation plan and time frame to implement the solution, and, finally, what measurements will tell you whether you have completed the waste elimination.
