VAP is the instrument through which the War on Waste is waged. In a typical VAP seminar, participants are given the basic rules of analysis: the 80/20 Rule, the 5 Why's, waste analysis techniques, bottleneck (constraint) analysis, the Bibeault 120 /20 Rule of Profits, Yes/No Charts, and World Record Reports. With these techniques, at least $100,000 of waste is identified, and a solution is proposed for no more than $5,000. A time frame and implementation plan is defined, and measurement techniques are suggested to ensure that the waste is truly eliminated.
