The Scientific Paradigm is a set of rules or regulations, a set of lenses that influence the way we look at the world and the way we solve problems. The paradigm influences our perspective of the world. We solve problems differently with the rules of different paradigms. The Scientific Paradigm is rooted in the idea that organizations resemble the systems of nature. There is a strong basis of analogy to link the actions of science that describe nature with those of management systems theory that describes business. The Scientific Paradigm offers an approach to business which recognizes that organizations are structures that mimic systems in nature and are therefore guided by the same rules, when we understand one universe we can use that understanding to understand the other. For more information about the Scientific Paradigm, look at the October 1996 edition of Dr. Elbie's Corner.
